Short version: cogito-mem runs on your computer, and we never see anything you do with it.
What we collect
Nothing. cogito-mem has no account, no analytics, no telemetry and no server of ours. The people who make it receive no data from it, ever.
What cogito-mem stores on your computer
Your messages and Claude's replies, word for word, with their dates, in ~/.cogito-mem/. Secrets
such as API keys, tokens and passwords are replaced with [redacted] before anything is stored.
What you install lists every file.
What goes over the network
Only the one-time downloads that set it up: Cogi's code and its Python dependency, llama.cpp from its official
releases, and the EmbeddingGemma 2 model from Hugging Face. Those sites see a normal download request, as with
any install. After that, cogito-mem makes no network connections. Its service answers only on
127.0.0.1, your own computer.
Your control
- Read your memory: it is a SQLite file in
~/.cogito-mem/memory/. - Keep something out: wrap it in
<private>…</private>, or pause saving withCOGITO_MEM_CAPTURE=off. - Erase everything:
rm -rf ~/.cogito-mem.
